The Houston Rockets were rumored to be making some big moves this offseason as the team pushed meetings for marquee free agents like LaMarcus Aldridge and Kevin Love. The goal was to get a third star for the James Harden-Dwight Howard duo, but that failed to take place. Instead, the Rockets brought back most of the in-house talent while making a trade for Ty Lawson. The final piece of the puzzle appears to be Jason Terry.
Terry sat on the free agent market for some time this offseason with only a brief amount of interest circling his name. Aiming to find the right fit for him as his career begins to come to a close, a return to the Rockets is his best option. Terry confirmed to FOX 26 Sports in Houston that he would be coming back to the Rockets for what is expected to be a very small role considering the presence of both Patrick Beverley and Lawson. Terry had options in front of him, but ultimately it was Harden that convinced him to come back to Houston.
"No question, he was all over me," Terry said, via FOX 26 Sports. "(Harden) basically wasn't letting me go anywhere. That was tough for me knowing how important I am to his growth and his development. You're not the main guy, but the main guy needs you. It makes it a lot easier to come back."
The point guard will add to the depth at the position. According to the Houston Chronicle, Beverley is expected to remain the starter for the team regardless of the presence of Lawson. Coming off another DUI arrest, Lawson has a few things to prove Houston first. With Terry, the Rockets believe they could have a championship roster. However, could one more move be in the works for the team as they head into the competitive Western Conference?
According to Jason Gambadoro of ArizonaSports.com, Markieff Morris is demanding a trade of the Phoenix Suns and is eyeing a spot with the Houston Texans because he likes Harden and the team's style of play. In order for the Rockets to make a trade for Morris, they would have to feel he is a big upgrade from someone like Terrence Jones who occupies the spot that Morris would take. It would be difficult for the Rockets to make a trade package enticing for the Suns which means this deal is likely not happening. Morris might like the idea of Houston over Phoenix, but the Rockets do not really have a need for him nor do they have the pieces to acquire him.
