Buffalo Bills Rumors: Percy Harvin Injury Helps Sammy Watkins, Robert Woods Fantasy Value as LeSean McCoy, Karlos Williams Injuries Make Pierre Thomas Target

The Buffalo Bills have injuries across the board. While the team continues to try and figure out their starting quarterback situation, their key offensive stars continue to go down with health issues that has the offense stalling. With four running backs dealing with various injuries, Percy Harvin is now sidelined as his reoccurring hip issue flares up again.

According to Rex Ryan via Chris Wesseling of NFL.com, Harvin will be held out of practice to receive platelet-rich plasma injects to fix a hip injury that did not respond to the first round of treatment. Harvin has been dealing with hip issues for years now. He missed the entire 2013 season after undergoing hip surgery. That caused him to be traded to the New York Jets and then released. Ryan noted that the team was not overly concerned that this would keep Harvin sidelined for too long, but history is not in the wide receiver's favor.

"He's so itching to get back, that that's why we sped it up," Ryan said, via NFL.com. "We were going to wait four days to give him the shot. We gave it to him early. Hopefully he responds on it. He doesn't want to go into (the season opener) with no game work. So he is trying to get back on the field."

Harvin's injury makes Sammy Watkins and Robert Woods the focal point of the offense for the quarterback battle. The Bills loaded up on wide receivers in the offseason which has many wondering just how they plan to distribute the ball this year. Fantasy owners are certainly looking at who will get the most targets. While Watkins is considered a fantasy home run, having Woods, Harvin and Charles Clay occupying spots on the field might not make that the case.

There is also the issue of the quarterback play that could hurt the value of the receivers. Matt Cassel, Tyrod Taylor and EJ Manuel continue to battle it out for a starting role. None of the three options are considering quality threats at the position, but the Bills need someone to emerge as a starter.

The same can be said for the run game as McCoy is out for the remainder of the preseason, but expected to return for Week 1. Everyone behind the back is injured as well. The favorite for the backup position appears to be Karlos Williams who is predicted to have a good year for the Bills. With McCoy unable to stay healthy, Williams could become a quiet fantasy threat during the season.
