The English Premier League is in full swing as Manchester United and Aston Villa square off in the second week of play. Both teams are dealing with injury issues early that could play a big factor in who starts for either team. Meanwhile certain players might still be coming off the bench despite good play as reserves. Rudy Gestede will learn that lesson as he is likely coming off the bench following a game winner last week.
Gestede got the 1-0 win over Bournemouth after getting called off the bench, but that does not mean he is ready to get the start. Tim Sherwood told the media that he is not looking to rush Gestede as a starter after an inconsistent preseason. Meanwhile, Jack Grealish, Carles Gil and Jores Okore are all supposed to miss time with injury. After spending a lot in the summer, several big names like Idrissa Gueye, Jrodan Amavi and Micah Richards will all make their home debuts for Aston Villa are the team was almost sold and instead spent that money on players.
"He doesn't have to talk. He is showing it by his actions that he is willing to back this football club and take us in the correct direction," Sherwood said, via ESPNFC.com. "I think a football club is like a player, you're always for sale depending on what someone wants to pay. If someone wants to pay a huge amount of money and Randy decides he wants to sell then it's his decision."
United is also coming off a season-opening win from last weekend by beating Tottenham. One of the biggest x-factors for Manchester has yet to see the field. David de Gea was ruled unfit to play and likely will not be seen against Aston Villa either. Rumors are swirling that the star is on his way to Real Madrid and Louis van Gaal believes all of the speculation is too much for him to focus on the game ahead. As of right now, De Gea is not moving unless other players are tossed into the deal as well. United is hopeful they can improve in away matches as they struggled with that last season and this will be a true test.
