Carmelo Anthony might be denying that he holds any resentment towards the offseason of the New York Knicks, but he is making it clear that he was not thrilled over the loss of a few big-named players. New York entered free agency with lofty goals and a marquee wish list of players they intended on chasing. However, they came up short on every single one and Anthony wishes a few things were done differently.

The Knicks scored a meeting with free agent LaMarcus Aldridge early in the offseason, but ultimately lost out on the star because they asked for him to play center and not power forward. According to ESPN's Ian Begley, Aldridge picked the San Antonio Spurs because he could remain at power forward with Tim Duncan playing center. Anthony admits that the Knicks had a great shot at landing Aldridge and he wishes the team sold things to the free agent a bit differently.

"We could've gotten LaMarcus,'' Anthony said, via the New York Post. "I believe the conversations me and him had, it was a big chance he'd end up in New York. I don't really know where playing the center position comes in. I know when I was talking to him we had a very great shot.''

As a result the Knicks drafted Kristaps Porzingis and signed Derrick Williams to fill that role on the team. Arron Afflalo and Robin Lopez followed. The team could still make a trade for someone in free agency. With JaVale McGee off the market, the team's best options are either Carlos Boozer or a trade with the Miami Heat for Chris Andersen. The New York Post predicts the team stays put for the time being. There is pressure on the Knicks this season to step up their play as Anthony will be at the center of all of that. Right now, the star is not cleared to play while participating in practice for Team USA basketball. Anthony stressed that his knee is fine after he missed the final portion of the regular season.

"I'll deal with that when the time comes," Anthony said, via Newsday.com. "As I start pushing it and taking my rehab, workouts and training up another level, I'll know where I am at as far as if my legs are underneath me."

Anthony's health will be something to watch especially as the season begins to unfold. Team president Phil Jackson made it clear that if the Knicks do not win, marquee free agents will not sign with the team. Much of that rests on Anthony's shoulders. With doubt still remaining in players like Langston Galloway and Jose Calderon, Anthony will need to be back to his high-scoring ways and quickly.
