Yankees vs. Tigers Prediction Game 4: Sabathia Will Keep Bombers Alive

Oct 17, 2012 11:58 AM EDT

The New York Yankees will be fighting for their lives in Game 4 of the ALCS against the Detroit Tigers. With CC Sabathia on the mound, the Yankees will be able to see tomorrow, so I predict.

Despite the Yankees' struggles offensively, it is very hard to pick against the playoff season Sabathia is posting. Similar to Tiger ace Justin Verlander, Sabathia seems to have figured out how to pitch in the playoffs.

Entering the 2012 postseason, Sabathia had a 7-4 record with a 4.81 ERA in 15 starts (16 appearances). In these playoffs, Sabathia is 2-0 with a 1.53 ERA allowing just three runs over 17.2 innings pitched.

He almost pitched two complete games against the Baltimore Orioles in the ALDS.

The Yankee bats finally showed life at the end of the game after struggling to get just three hits off Verlander in Game 3. Ichiro went 2-3 off Verlander and Eduardo Nuñez blasted a solo shot on a line drive.

The Tigers' hurler Max Scherzer is a strikeout pitctcher, but he is no CC Sabathia.

I see Sabathia throwing a complete game in this one and keeping the Yankees close enough to strike, similar to how the bullpen did yesterday.

Score Prediction: It is not like the Tigers are rocking the Yankees, so I see a close Game 4. Yankees will win, check this out, 1-0 and push for a Game 5.
