NFL Training Camp News: Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton In Camp Scuffle

Aug 10, 2015 01:44 PM EDT

$100 million, franchise quarterback Cam Newton got into a fight with Panther's cornerback Josh Norman at around 10:30 a.m. during training camp.

Running back Jonathan Stewart and fullback Mike Tolbert can be seen pulling Newton off of Norman after a pile up in the middle of the field. The fight allegedly began when Norman stiff armed Cam Newton's helmet at the end of a play where he threw an interception.  Newton retaliated by shoving Norman in the face while tackling him and later had to be pulled off by Tolbert and Stewart while he called Norman a "pissant". Newtown also yelled at Norman

"Hit me like that again and you'll know something. I bet you won't do that again."

Apparently this fight had been building for weeks as Norman worked against Newton in practice. Veteran linebacker and team captain Thomas Davis called the fight "stupid". The Panthers have already lost a couple of players in camp to injury most recently Charles Johnson who suffered an ankle injury. Davis is one of the few starting defenders left practicing however he was joined by Kawann Short who returned from a sore back. The Panthers cannot be too happy seeing their franchise quarterback risk injury to fight one of his fellow teammates.
