Baltimore Ravens News: Matt Elam Likely Out For Season After Biceps Injury In Training Camp

Aug 03, 2015 01:07 PM EDT

Matt Elam, the Ravens 2013 1st round pick tore his biceps in training camp. The injury reminded everyone that the full-contact drills in training camp have begun.

Elam will sit out of the 2015 season due to the severity of his injuries; he will need four to six months of rehab and surgery to help him return to NFL form.  Raven's coaches have been saying this has been the best offseason Elam has had after he was benched in the 2014 season for missing tackles. John Harbaugh had this to say about the injury,

"I'm sure it's very disappointing for him, and he told me that, here's a guy who came back with a renewed attitude. He had a better approach than he'd had the first two years. He just had grown up a lot. He's very serious and he was in tremendous shape, and then he gets a fluke injury. That's disappointing."

Free safety Kendrick Lewis said "Matt Elam's a very good player, a very good guy; the short time that we had to prepare and get ready for this season was cut short, but I've seen a guy who works hard, who comes out every day and just shows his work ethic and shows his work to this team. That's going to be a big blow to us going forward, but in this business it's the next man up, but me, Will (Hill), all of our safeties have to step it up another notch because we lost a brother. That was a tough one and I wish him well with his injury and recovery, but everybody's got to step their game up a notch."
