Carlos Gomez #27 of the Milwaukee Brewers celebrates with Aramis Ramirez #16 after reaching on a double hit by Adam Lind in the seventh inning against the New York Mets at Miller Park on June 23, 2015 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin."

The MLB trade deadline is days away and players like Cole Hamels, Carlos Gonzalez, Justin Upton, Carlos Gomez, James Shields, Starlin Castro, Mike Leake, David Price, Yoenis Cespedes and Austin Jackson all could be targets and teams like the New York Mets, Los Angeles Dodgers, Texas Rangers, Toronto Blue Jays, Houston Astros, NY Yankees and Baltimore Orioles could be interested. The Padres also could move Tyson Ross in a trade at the deadline.

UPDATE: Joel Sherman and others report that Carlos Gomez is going to the Mets in a deal with the Brewers. Adam Rubin: "Zack Wheeler and Wilmer Flores going to Brewers for Carlos Gomez, according to Daily News." The trade could break down, but reports have the deal going down.

WELL, guess that didn't last: "Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal Most logical explanation is that #Brewers were uncomfortable with Wheeler's medical coming off Tommy John. Players were agreed upon." It appears the deal is not happening. It's likely that the Brewers did not like Wheeler's medicals. Sandy Alderson said in a presser after the game that there was "no deal." IT WAS THEM!

Many assumed it was about Wheeler, but perhaps not? NY Daily News Sports: "ANOTHER UPDATE! #Mets backed out of Carlos Gomez trade as he is dealing with a hip issue, per sources http://nydn.us/1SNGYp0"

The Dodgers have traded for Mat Latos and the Blue Jays have added Troy Tulowitzki in the past two days and that could change how certain teams tackle the deadline. The Dodgers have been mentioned as one of the favorites for the Hamels and David Price trades, but after adding Latos they may go after a lower level pitcher instead. The Jays now may push hard for someone like Hamels or Price after adding Tulowitzki, as they gave up some prospects to get the shortstop and could go "all-in" on this season.

The Rockies are seemingly poised to sell after trading Tulowitzki and Carlos Gonzalez could be the next player to move for the team. Gonzalez could be a target for the Mets, Orioles or Pirates, as all of those teams are looking for an outfielder. The Royals have pulled Johnny Cueto and Ben Zobrist off the market and that puts them out of the mix for certain players and now that could force the Tigers to sell. Detroit reportedly is considering trades with Price and Yoenis Cespedes, as both are heading towards free agency.

The Mets have been active so far with deals for Kelly Johnson, Juan Uribe and Tyler Clippard and now they could be close to a trade. According to Ken Rosenthal, the team is "close" to a deal for Carlos Gomez with the Brewers and players like Zack Wheeler and Wilmer Flores could be on the move. The Mets have been interested in adding another hitter and the team does not want to give up Noah Syndergaard in any deals. Andy Martino reports that the Mets and Brewers deal has made "progress" over some obstacles.

The Dodgers have also added Alex Wood and Jim Johnson in their deal with the Marlins, with the Braves getting some compensation as the third team in the trade, according to Joel Sherman at the New York Post. Sherman added that prospect Jose Peraza is going to the Dodgers. The Dodgers could be looking to deal again after making moves and they are stocking up on pitchers and they also have a deep outfield. The Dodgers have been unwilling to give up top players like Corey Seager or Joc Pederson in deals.
