Jayson Werth made it happen with a walk-off home run in the bottom of the 9th off reliever Lance Lynn.

It was a 13-pitch at bat and Lynn hung a slider that Werth lined into the bullpen in left field.

The Nationals' bullpen held the Cardinals late in the game after struggling in Wednesday's outing.

Jordan Zimmermann and Tyler Clippard pitched an inning each and struck out the side. Drew Storen struck out two in his inning pitched.

Kyle Lohse did what he could going seven innings and allowing only one run on two hits, but one of those hits was a home run surrendered to Adam LaRoche.

They Nationals will send their ace Gio Gonzalez to the mound.
