The recent dominance of Max Scherzer cannot be denied as he continues his hot streak with the Washington Nationals. The starter is looking to win his fourth straight decision while posting up a historical three-game stretch. The Nationals will take on the Atlanta Braves who for the fourth time this season will be putting a pitcher on the mound making his major league debut.

Scherzer has been outstanding to put it simply. The pitcher is 9-5 with a 1.79 ERA on the season and is in the middle of a stretch that has featured a one-hitter game against Milwaukee, a near perfect game and a no-hitter against Pittsburgh. He then followed that up with a two-run game against Philadelphia that was perfect through six innings. Meanwhile he has the second-lowest ERA in the majors while putting up 33 strikeouts in two of the three starts. Scherzer is even better on the road going 5-2 with a 1.40 ERA.

"Your focus is to win the ballgame," said Scherzer, via ESPN.com. "That's the first and foremost thing you have to worry about."

The Nationals are doing a bit of rebounding as seeing their nine-game win streak fall to the Braves on Wednesday night when AJ Pierzynski and Juan Uribe hit back-to-back home runs. Atlanta has been inconsistent at best on offense, but that was enough to get the team a win. Pierzynski could be the x-factor in this game as he is batting .333 against Scherzer while batting .421 in his last five home games against the Nationals.

The Braves are 4-0 this season when pitchers are making their league debut. They hope to make that 5-0 as Manny Banuelos takes the mound for the first time following Tommy John surgery and a trade from the Yankees. The highly touted prospect was sent over in January and is 6-2 with a 2.29 ERA in 15 starts for Triple-A Gwinnett. He will certainly have a challenge ahead of him facing players like Bryce Harper who is hitting .385 in 10 games against the Braves.
