The Dallas Mavericks are hoping to finally become a free agent destination spot this offseason. In the past the franchise has been burned as players like Deron Williams and Chris Bosh turned them away at the last minute for other teams. This year the Mavericks cannot afford to have that happen again. With Dirk Nowitzki reaching the end of his career, the team's championship window is closing as the begin to get aggressive in recruiting with free agency around the corner.

According to Tim MacMahon of ESPN Dallas, the Mavericks have the best chance outside of the Los Angeles Clippers to sign DeAndre Jordan. Preparing to be an unrestricted free agent this offseason, Jordan has made it clear that he will be meeting with other teams starting July 1 and the Mavericks will be one of them. MacMahon writes that both Nowitzki and Chandler Parsons are recruiting the center to Dallas in hopes of being the big winner in a max contract. The Clippers do have the ability to offer one more year and more money on a contract to Jordan, but he might not be aiming to return.

According to Brad Turner of the Los Angeles Times, the rift between Jordan and Chris Paul might be bad enough to push the center elsewhere this summer. According to team sources, Jordan and Paul argued over practice methods while the center was not looking to play third wheel with the point guard and Blake Griffin. Heading elsewhere might be the favored move.

The Mavericks are also pushing to retain LaMarcus Aldridge who is getting plenty of attention on the market. The Mavericks have been targeting the power forward for some time now and getting some help from other Texas stars. While at a charity baseball game hosted by Nowitzki, Dallas wide receiver Dez Bryant told fans they should get on social media and reach out to both Aldridge and Jordan about coming to Texas.

While Jordan and Aldridge are priorities for the team, it is very clear that Tyson Chandler is not. If all else fails, the team will likely try and re-sign the center who came over from a trade with the New York Knicks. The Mavericks are looking to upgrade from Chandler who is Plan B for the team. The center told the media that it is merely business and he is simply trying to play basketball next year.

"No, because business is business," Chandler said, via ESPN.com. "And at the end of the day, I get it. The franchise [has] to make the best decision for the franchise. Of course, I still feel like I can go, still have a lot to give. But at the end of the day, I feel like I'll make the best decision for myself and my family and the Mavericks will make the best decision for the organization."
