EPL Transfer News: Alan Pardew Gets Eight-Year Deal from Newcastle; Michel Vorm Ends Liverpool Speculation by Committing Future to Swansea

Newcastle United showed the faith they have in manager Alan Pardew, handing him a massive eight year deal, while Michel Vorm ended speculation of a possible reunion with Brendan Rodgers at Liverpool by agreeing a new four-year contract with Swansea.

Pardew has been hugely successful at St James' Park since taking over from Chris Hughton in 2010. The manager guided the Magpies to fifth place last season in the English Premier League, and despite having another four years to run on his current deal, owner Mike Ashley decided to give him an eight-year contract.

Pardew's backroom staff, including assistant John Carver and first-team coach Steve Stone, have also been given similar deals.

"If you look at clubs like Manchester United and Arsenal, Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger have shown that stability gives you the best platform to achieve success, and that is the model we wish to emulate here," managing director Derek Llambias told the club's official website.

"We're looking to build on the success we had last season and these new contracts are aimed at keeping the club progressing on and off the pitch, as we have done since returning to the Premier League in 2010.

"Alan has done a fantastic job over the last couple of years and has proved what a great Premier League manager he is. I have total respect for him in all football matters and have an excellent relationship with him which I think benefits the club enormously.

"Alan also has one of the best backroom teams in the country and I would like to thank John Carver, Steve Stone, and (goalkeeping coach) Andy Woodman for all their combined efforts.

"We hope this announcement will be great news for the fans, whose support and commitment to this club over the years has been fantastic."

Meanwhile, Vorm quashed all suggestions of a move to Liverpool by agreeing to stay with Swansea until 2016. The Dutch international goalkeeper had been linked with an Anfield move after Pepe Reina's stuttering start to the season and Rodgers' awareness of Vorm's ability, having managed him at Swansea.

However, Vorm sees his future at the Welsh club. "I can also only see things at Swansea getting better and better," he told the club's official website. "I can see a lot of positive things happening here and I believe the club has a bright future ahead of it.

"The club has signed a lot of its quality players for longer periods, which is a good thing.

"The Premier League has been all I expected it would be, and better," Vorm added. "When you play in front of our fans and witness the support they give you, it's fantastic. We know how much the club means to them.

"And I'm not just talking about the Liberty Stadium. They also travel in their thousands to away games. It makes every game in a Swans shirt enjoyable."
