LeBron James Tops ESPN Player Ranking And Is Now The No.1 Ranked Player Going Into The 2012-13 NBA Season

ESPN concluded their NBA player ranking with LeBron James leading all players with the No.1 rank going into the 2012-13 NBA season. James etched out Kevin Durant, Dwight Howard, Chris Paul and Derrick Rose who rounded out the Top 5.

Last season James put together one of the most productive and awe-inspiring runs in recent memory, winning his third regular-season MVP award, his first NBA title, his first NBA Finals MVP award and his second career Olympic Gold Medal leading Team USA during the London Games.

This was viewed as a major turn-around for James after a lackluster showing against the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Finals just a season before.

The shame of the defeat forced James to look upon himself to do some improvements.

During that off season James began working on his post moves with NBA Legend Hakeem Olajuwon. As a result James cut down on his three point shooting during the regular season, thus improving his field goal percentage from a 51 percent to 53 percent.

While the improvement of his stats were nice to take notice, what was probably even a bigger improvement for James was his presence on the court.

James mentally was in another place than where he was in his previous eight seasons. He became apparent that James was mentally tougher as he took on the leadership role for the Miami Heat, leading throughout the post-season during their playoff run.

James has been through a lot during his career, going from being one of the most popular players in the league and watching it all slip away with one televised decision.

James doesn't seem to let those things affect him anymore, and only seems to having winning multiple championships on his mind.

He's the game's best player and he's finally taken notice to it, and it will be interesting to see where his career will go on from here.
