The Dallas Cowboys thought the 2014-15 season was their year to contend for a title, but that did not work out. Instead they were ousted in the first round of the playoffs and are now left to figure out exactly where the franchise is headed. After the trade for Rajon Rondo turned out to be a big bust in Dallas, which players are they trusting to give a lot of money to in free agency?

According to Michael Wallace of ESPN.com, the Dallas Mavericks are prepared to offer Marc Gasol a max contract this offseason. With recruiting starting July 1, the San Antonio Spurs, Los Angeles Lakers and New York Knicks are all prepared to offer a huge contract to Gasol while the Memphis Grizzlies are eyeing to keep him around while being able to offer the most money. That makes the chances much more slim that Dallas will land him as the team will need some backup plans.

According to the Dallas Morning News, Plan B for a big man is DeAndre Jordan who may or may not have soured on the Los Angeles Clippers. Doc Rivers told the media via ESPN that the Clippers will be offering Jordan a max contract. However, Fox Sports reported the center and Chris Paul have some tension that could push him elsewhere in the coming year. The Mavericks will be ready, but again, they cannot offer as much money as the Clippers can.

Plan C is keeping Tyson Chandler around with a new deal. Chandler told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram that he wants to remain in Dallas for what would likely be the remainder of his career. However, Dallas will not be looking to shell out a lot of money for the aging center and he must be ready to accept that if he wants to stick around.

"I think management will do a job of bringing the right personnel here -they always have throughout the years," Chandler said, via the Star-Telegram. "I think they'll have opportunities. I think this summer they have flexibility, maybe more than they've had in the past. So being a good organization and a good city, you have opportunities with free agents, but you kind of have to see how it plays out."

In a review of the roster, ESPNDallas.com reports that Rajon Rondo is not expected back along with Monta Ellis who has a player option for next year. Goran Dragic, LaMarcus Aldridge and Paul Millsap have all been tossed around as options for the Mavericks in free agency.
