Manchester United Transfer News: Confident Hernandez Looking For Champions League Progress

Sep 19, 2012 02:25 AM EDT

Javier Hernandez is confident a full preseason with Manchester United, away from any international commitments will help him find success in front of goal for his club this season.

Hernandez enjoyed a good start to life at Old Trafford, after signing from Chivas Guadelajara in 2010, scoring 20 goals in his first season at United. The second-season syndrome struck the striker, however, last year, with the top marksman only finding the target on 12 occasions.

However, Hernandez is confident, a full preseason program at United, having missed the London Olympics with Mexico where his country won the gold medal, will help him strike form.

"My first season was very good for some people and for some people it was okay," Chicharito told reporters ahead of Wednesday's Champions League clash with Galatasaray.

"My second season was okay for some people and very bad for others. Me? I'm happy and I'm enjoying my football. I just hope that this summer's break helps a lot.

"I had a proper rest and had my first pre-season with the team, so it's going to help my fitness. I'm the happiest player in the world to play for this club."

United begin their quest for a Champions League title against the Turkish club, with everyone at the club desperate to right the wrongs from last season, after the Red Devils failed to progress past the group stages.

"We know the history of this club," the Mexican international said. "We know we have to aim for the top in every competition.

"We always look to the Champions League final and we try and win it. That's the only thing in our mind. We want to prove we can win and not make the same mistakes as we did last season.

"I'm always ready if the boss asks me to start or be on the bench. I'm focused on the most important thing -- the game tomorrow. I'm looking forward to it."
