The Miami Dolphins have Ryan Tannehill coming into the fourth year of his contract and they likely will try and get an extension done before the season starts and this comes as the team may consider players like Melvin Gordon, DeVante Parker, Todd Gurley, Kevin White or Amari Cooper in the draft, as reports say the team could trade up.

The Dolphins spent a ton of money in the offseason and that means the pressure will be on Joe Philbin to get the team into the playoffs. According to Pro Football Talk, the team has a visit lined up with Melvin Gordon ahead of the draft and this comes after the team already met with DeVante Parker. Both players could be potential targets if the team stays at the number 14 pick in the first round.

According to CBS Sports, the Dolphins are looking at making a trade up into the top 10 or possibly the top five this offseason. The Raiders are a potential target according to the report, as they could be willing to move down over the other teams in the top 10 and that could fit for Miami. Kevin White and Amari Cooper are likely targets if the Dolphins move up into the first seven picks, as they are considered to be the top receivers in the draft this year.

The Raiders have been mentioned as options for Cooper/White as well in many mock drafts, but if they move back, they still could get a solid receiver. The class at the position is deep this year and while Miami doesn't have a ton of draft picks to work with, this could be a similar move to what the Falcons did with Julio Jones.

The Dolphins feel they are close to being a contender with Tannehill coming off of his best season and if they see Cooper or White as a game changer, the trade up could be worth giving up valuable picks. The team signed Suh to a record contract and they made a number of changes to the roster at WR, which is one reason why they likely will target that position. The team traded away Mike Wallace and they also released Brian Hartline and Brandon Gibson.

The Dolphins have Jarvis Landry after a strong rookie season and they also brought in Kenny Stills in a trade from the Saints. Cooper is coming off of a monster season with the Crimson Tide and White has put up some great combine numbers leading up to the draft. Gordon and Gurley are also potential options, as the Dolphins may want some more depth behind Lamar Miller with Knowshon Moreno not re-signed. Gordon has had interest from a number of teams, including the Ravens, Jaguars and Cardinals, who has hosted or will host him for visits.

Tannehill is coming off of his best season in the NFL and he could be in line for a contract extension. According to the Miami Herald, Tannehill could get an extension worth over $100 million for seven seasons and football exec Mike Tannenbaum said to the media that the two sides have already started talking. Tannehill put up career highs in passing yards, completion percentage and touchdowns last season and had his lowest total of interceptions.
