The New York Knicks are coming into the offseason ready to spend big and Greg Monroe could be a main free agent target for the team, while names like Rajon Rondo, Brandon Knight, Reggie Jackson and Goran Dragic are also expected to be targets in free agency for Phil Jackson this summer.

The Knicks are pushing to get a lottery pick and they will finish with one of the worst records in the league. The team appears to be content with getting any of the top three picks, as players like Jahlil Okafor, Karl-Anthony Towns and D'Angelo Russell appear to be worth prospects. Apart from that, the team is expected to have over $30 million in cap space and that means some free agent spending.

According to Pro Basketball Talk, Monroe spoke with the media and when asked about the Knicks ahead of their game tonight, he said he would meet with the team is asked. Monroe said If they're interested, I'm going to (meet)" and it's very likely they will be. Monroe is one of the top free agents and he could be a main target for the Knicks.

Earlier in the offseason the NY Post reported that Monroe could be the main target for the Knicks, as the team expects Marc Gasol to stay in Memphis or sign elsewhere. Monroe is a worthy investment, as he has been very productive in his career and also has not had any major injury issues. Monroe is young and he appears to be in line for a max contract after putting up career numbers this season.

Monroe bet on himself heading into this year, as he could have signed a bigger deal as a restricted free agent, but opted to come back to the Pistons. According to PBT, Monroe has not ruled out signing back with the Pistons. Many think that he will leave, but after adding Reggie Jackson at the deadline, and bringing in Stan Van Gundy before the season, the team could be headed in the right direction.

The team also likely will chase Rajon Rondo and Goran Dragic and they could have competition from the Lakers and other teams this offseason. Rondo will be a main target for the Lakers and the Rockets, while Dragic is also going to be a target for those teams. Monroe also could be an option for the Celtics, as they will have money to spend and just made the playoffs. The Knicks expect to get at least one big name and Monroe could be an option.
