UPDATED NEWS REPORT TO FOLLOW AFTER ANNOUNCEMENT

Here is some information on this case and the upcoming case that Hernandez faces.

Aaron Hernandez has been indicted on double murder charges for a 2012 drive by shooting deaths of Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado and that is now in addition to the first degree murder charges he is facing in the death of Odin Lloyd from in June 2013.

The Boston Globe reported the news that the authorities were charging Hernandez with the two murders of Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado stemming from a 2012 shooting and it was confirmed later in a press conference from police and the Suffolk District Attorney Daniel Conley. The shooting allegedly came about from an encounter at a nightclub that was described as random and happened after the two groups of people left the club, which is located in the South End neighborhood of Boston.

Previous reports linking Hernandez to the crime wrote that security footage captured Hernandez at the same nightclub and at the press conference the prosecution outlined the timeline of events, beginning with a chance interaction between Hernandez and the two men that was described as random.

The 27 year old now faces more charges on top of the Lloyd murder charges and according to Michael McCann on SI.com, the new case and eventual trial will make it difficult for the defense to make a case for Hernandez on the original murder charges. No gun has been found in the Lloyd case, but there is ample physical evidence tying back to Hernandez in the double shooting, including being in the same location as the crime, an SUV that was found at a relative's house and a gun that was later recovered in a traffic accident that was found to be the murder weapon.

Hernandez was arrested for the murder of Lloyd, a semi-professional football player and friend, a week after the body was discovered less than a mile from his home in North Attleboro. Hernandez was released by the Patriots that same day and he was denied bail multiple times over the course of the summer and now he is facing life in prison for the charges. Hernandez and Lloyd were connected through their girlfriends, as Hernandez's fiance Shayanna Jenkins has a sister that was reportedly dating Lloyd at the time of his death.

The interaction between the men and Hernandez at the club was called a random encounter and while it was characterized as gang activity at first, the men were not connected to gangs and now Hernandez is facing double murder charges in the case after the grand jury brought back charges. The murder occurred back in 2012 and now Hernandez has been officially connected and indicted in the case after evidence and other connections were found after Lloyd was killed. Some have speculated that Hernandez killed Lloyd because he knew about or had information about his involvement in the murder.
