The New York Yankees and Baltimore Orioles are playing live on the MLB schedule on Tuesday and the game from Camden Yards starts past 7:05 pm ET and has CC Sabathia on the mound for the Yanks and the team will matchup with Miguel Gonzalez from the O's in the pitching duel.
The Yankees need Sabathia to stay healthy this season and now he takes the mound again after taking a loss in the Blue Jays game last week. The Yankees come in after getting a win against the Orioles on Monday and that was big for the team. The O's dominated the Yanks last season and New York did well on Monday with a grand slam and some strong defense. Stephen Drew hit a pinch hit slam in the game and the team needs to continue to find a way to score runs.
The Yankee bullpen is expected to be very good this season, but the team needs the rotation to stay healthy and strong as well. Sabathia did not pitch badly against the Blue Jays and now he gets another chance against an AL East team. Sabathia has not been good at Camden recently, as he has a 0-4 record with a 5.54 ERA in Baltimore in his last six starts.
Last season Sabathia did not face the Orioles and Baltimore comes in looking to get things going after losing Nelson Cruz in the offseason. Adam Jones is heating up and he hit a home run against Michael Pineda and he comes in with three homers and seven RBIs in the last four home games. Drew hit his home run off Tommy Hunter and if the Yankees can get some offense from him, the lineup should be much stronger.
The Yankees have the chance to bounce back after the tough stretch they went through last season and they are expecting to contend. The team will be without Brett Gardner, but he had x rays on his hand and they were negative after he got hit on the hand with a pitch against the Orioles. Drew hit his home run because of that and he is day to day for now and he is a player that the Yankees cannot afford to lose.
A-rod has been playing well and he was at third base. The team and Rodriguez will be at odds over his home run milestones, but the fact that he has hit one and has hit okay so far is good for the Yankees. The team needs him to not be terrible and that could be the best chance for them to have a strong season.
