NY Mets pitcher Matt Harvey made his 2015 debut on Thursday and he was strong in his return from Tommy John Surgery, earning the win against the Nationals while throwing six shutout innings and giving up just four hits.

Harvey pitched for the first time since 2013 and he earned the victory in the 6-1 win, striking out nine and walking just one batter and giving up four hits. According to Hardball Talk, Harvey was expected to throw around 90 pitches and he ended up throwing 91 and he came out in the top of the sixth. Harvey was able to coast through the Mets lineup for six shutout innings and he struck out Bryce Harper three times.

Harvey had been out for 20 months and his return was highly anticipated for the Mets. Harvey's effectiveness is promising for the team, as they need him to stay healthy after Zack Wheeler went down. The Mets scored four runs in the third inning for Harvey and they held off the Nationals to win the first series of the season.
