The NHL Playoffs are just around the corner and the New York Rangers are set as the top seed in the eastern conference and through the postseason, as they have clinched the President Trophy after a win over the New Jersey Devils and now NY is in ahead of the Montreal Canadiens, Tampa Bay Lightning, St. Louis Blues and Anaheim Ducks in the league standings.

The Rangers have been one of the best teams in the NHL during the second half of the season and they have done it mostly without starting goalie Henrik Lundqvist. The team has gone 7-3 over the last 10 games and they currently have 52 wins, the most in the NHL. The team has a +61 goal differential and they also are over 10 points up on the rest of their division.

The Rangers have played 80 games and they have 111 points and with just two matchups remaining on the schedule, they are in position as the top team in the league. The team clinched the spot and now they will try and make a second straight run to the Stanley Cup finals. Last season the team won the east and defeated the Flyers, Penguins and Canadiens on the way to the finals, where they lost to the LA Kings in five games.
