The Miami Dolphins continue to have a lot of free agents visit the team, but have yet to actually make a signing with the NFL Draft just weeks away. After trading away a good portion of their offensive power, the Dolphins have been sifting through what is left on the open market. Several big names and key veterans still remain unsigned and the Dolphins might look at all of them before the draft comes up.
According to the Miami Herald, the Dolphins will be bringing in Greg Jennings for a workout on Tuesday. The veteran has visited with several teams in free agency including the Carolina Panthers and New England Patriots, but has yet to sign anywhere. Jennings was a salary cap casualty with the Minnesota Vikings after playing a nice role with then rookie quarterback, Teddy Bridgewater. With a relatively young receiving corps of Jarvis Landry and Kenny Stills, getting Jennings would provide Miami with a nice veteran voice.
The interest in Jennings comes after Michael Crabtree rejected an offer from the Dolphins. Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, Crabtree was offered a contract in the range of $3 million from the Dolphins and he turned it down. The wide receiver who is considered the best on the market right now is looking for a contract in the range of $4.5 million, something that might be very hard to come by at this point in the season. Crabtree is willing to hold out for the money, but if he gets desperate the Dolphins could take another look if Jennings does not sign.
The other issue for Miami rests in their running back game. The team brought in Stevan Ridley for a visit, but like Crabtree he walked away without a contract in place. At this point the Dolphins best option might be to try and re-sign Knowshon Moreno to a small contract. The Herald reports Miami is going all in on the potential of Lamar Miller an Moreno could simply be a rotational player which might help his ability to stay healthy.
The Dolphins could also look for help in the NFL Draft. According to NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport, the Dolphins could draft a skill position in the first round which could come in the form of Kevin White, DeVante Parket, Todd Gurley or TJ Yeldon. Until then the Dolphins will keep exploring free agent options.
