Philip Rivers is not going anywhere. The San Diego Chargers quarterback is not leaving the team this season meaning any team at risk of not drafting Marcus Mariota will be left to look at other options at the position. The New York Jets are one of those teams as they continue to search through starting options outside of Geno Smith or Ryan Fitzpatrick. Could the Tampa Bay Buccaneers help the team out?

According to the Tampa Bay Times, a number of teams have been calling the Buccaneers about interest in Mike Glennon. Most teams are under the impression that the Buccaneers will be drafting Jameis Winston No. 1 overall in the NFL Draft which leaves competition high for Mariota. With the Tennessee Titans interested in the Oregon quarterback everyone else will be left to find other options which might include Glennon.

The Buccaneers drafted Glennon to potentially be a starter, but the quarterback has not shown much progress, playing most of last season behind Josh McCown. Winston is the future in Tampa Bay, but Glennon could find a home elsewhere. NFL.com lists the New York Jets as a team that might eye the quarterback after trades for both Rives and Drew Brees have been denied by their respective teams. The Jets make their first draft at No. 6 meaning Mariota could easily be off the board by then. Glennon would be a cheap addition to the rotation.

The Jets need quarterbacks that could potentially take over as a starter. Right now, Todd Bowles is endorsing Smith as the starter simply because he is healthy and Fitzpatrick is not. However, Smith does not inspire much confidence in the fan base after two lack-luster seasons in New York. Glennon may or may not be any better, but he is an option. Kirk Cousins could also be a quality options.

According to CSN Washington, the Redskins are willing to shop Cousins at the right price. Robert Griffin III is entering the season as the starter for the franchise meaning Cousins once again has a slim shot at seeing the field. He struggled in 2014, but so did Smith and Fitzpatrick. If the Jets cannot get someone like Mariota or Rivers, these are their best options.
