The Chelsea and Southampton are playing live on the English Premier League schedule on Sunday from Stamford Bridge and the match is at 9:30 pm ET on the NBC Sports Network and streaming online from the NBCSN Live Extra website and the match has the Blues coming in with the chance to take advantage of Man City after they lost away at Burnley.

Chelsea has been leading the EPL all season and they are in front of Man City and Arsenal, while Man United is in fourth place ahead of Liverpool. Chelsea has the chance to push the lead even more and that would give them a very good chance to lock things in. Teams need to play very well to even have a chance of getting close to Chelsea and the Blues and Jose Mourinho is trying to keep his team strong down the stretch.

Chelsea has midfielder Nemanja Matic coming back from an ankle injury and he had to leave the Champions League match against PSG. Chelsea comes in after losing that matchup with PSG and now they are out of the Champions League, but they already won a trophy this season and they are in line to win the English Premier League title.

Southampton will be without Jay Rodriguez and Emmanuel Mayuka for the match and Chelsea will have to bounce back after the tough match against PSG in the Champs League. Southampton is seventh in the EPL this season and while they had a chance to break into the top four race, they are just hanging on and likely just out of it, even with a strong run at the end. Chelsea on the road is always tough and the Blues have not lost at home since last season.

Chelsea is looking to keep their top position intact for the end of the season and they are not in danger of losing it without a slump. The team needs points here and they had a hold at home previously against Burnley that was disappointing and Southampton last won against Crystal Palace. Chelsea has lost only once in the last 11 games against Southampton and the Saints have not won at Stamford Bridge in over a decade.

Chelsea has won 11 of the last 14 Premier League games at Stamford Bridge and they have been the most consistent scoring team in the EPL. The Blues have been very strong at home and they have allowed just five goals in their home stadium and they are looking to keep that going on Sunday. Chelsea has matchups with Hull City, Stoke City, QPR and Arsenal coming up and they will also matchup with Crystal Palace.
