Mourinho won his first trophy since coming back to Chelsea and the last time the team won the League Cup they went on to win the EPL. The team has a five point lead on the EPL table and they will be looking for more points after a home draw with Burnley.
The team has a comfortable lead for staying in the top four and they are hoping to stay in first place through the month. The team has the Champions League return match coming up against PSG and that will be at Stamford Bridge after playing in France and getting a draw. Coming up on the schedule, Chelsea has Southampton, Hull City, Stoke City and West Ham on the schedule and heading through April they also have QPR, which likely means some points.
The team is secure in their position without any major upsets along the way and Mourinho said his team is playing with confidence heading into the spring. Mourinho may switch some things up heading out of the League Cup win and this will still have Chelse without Nemanja Matic, who is serving a suspension for the second straight game. The Blues won the Capital One Cup and now they have the chance to stay on top in the Premier League.
The team had their chance last year to pull ahead and couldn't get it done and now they are the team that is commanding things. West Ham has won just once in the last 17 matchups with Chelsea, who comes in having lost just once in the last 11. Chelsea lost to Tottenham, but that EPL matchup came on New YEars and Chelsea got revenge, winning the League Cup over the Spurs.
