The Brooklyn Nets are enjoying a rare stretch of success as win streaks have been hard to come by this year. Currently in the middle of a five-game home stand, the Nets are hoping to keep their momentum going, but Monday's game will be their biggest test. The Nets are fighting with six other teams for the final two spots in the Eastern Conference playoff standings and they hope to break free of the crowded group as they prepare to face off against the Golden State Warriors at home.
The Nets play 17 of their final 20 games against the Eastern Conference opponents as they fight the Charlotte Bobcats, Indiana Pacers, Boston Celtics and Detroit Pistons for the final spots in the postseason. Avoiding three straight losses, the Nets were able to get a key win over the Dallas Mavericks which wrapped up a tough road trip that ended 3-5. The Nets benefitted from a healthy Deron Williams who managed 25 points, one of his best games this season.
The Nets would love to repeat the success of last season when they won 15 straight games at home. However, this year, the team has yet to win three straight at the Barclays Center. Monday will not be easy as the league-leading Golden State Warriors come to town who have dominated the Nets in recent games winning the last four of five in the series. Golden State is wrapping up a six-game win streak hoping to extend their win streak to three after starting the series 1-2.
The Warriors got a scare on Sunday when they faced the Boston Celtics. The team was forced to overcome a 26-point deficit to beat the team off Stephen Curry's 37 points. He put up 11 points in the final nine minutes of the game in order to secure the win. They would like to avoid that scare again in Brooklyn. Curry put up 34 points in his last trip to Brooklyn while Klay Thompson has struggled against the Nets shooting just 41.4 percent.
