Minnesota Timberwolves News: Kevin Garnett Traded From Brooklyn Nets For Thaddeus Young, Rejoins Former Team

The Minnesota Timberwolves and Brooklyn Nets completed a trade at the deadline to bring Kevin Garnett back to where his career began, while Brooklyn received Thaddeus Young in return and now sources say that the Wolves want to sign Garnett to a contract extension.

Garnett started his career in Minnesota before being traded to the Celtics and after winning an NBA title there, he was moved along with Paul Pierce to Brooklyn. According to ESPN.com, the Nets snagged Young in the deal and he is a player they have long coveted and now Garnett comes back to Minnesota, where had great success for a long stretch to start his career.

Garnett previously was on the team when coach Flip Saunders was leading things and now he rejoins Saunders with the organization. The Wolves are a young team with players like Andrew Wiggins and Anthony Bennett and now Garnett joins as a veteran presence. The Nets had been looking to deal Deron Williams, Brook Lopez and Joe Johnson at the deadline, but instead they ended up moving Garnett.

Garnett was previously a top five pick for the franchise in 1995 out of high school and he took the team to the playoffs eight times. Garnett won MVP one season and also took the Wolves to the west finals in 2004, the best run for the team in its history. David Aldridge of NBA.com first reported that Garnett would be open to waiving his no-trade clause.
