The Buffalo Bills have Rex Ryan is as their new head coach and moving forward the team may look at Brian Hoyer or Mark Sanchez as quarterback options on the free agent market over starting EJ Manuel, as he struggled last season under Doug Marrone and this comes as Jameis Winston could be a potential draft target if the team trades up.

The Bills used Manuel and Kyle Orton last season, with Orton taking over for Manuel early on after Marrone made a change at quarterback. The Bills finished the season with a winning record for the first time in years and that led to Marrone opting out of his contract unexpectedly. Ryan was hired soon after that and he was enthusiastic in his opening press conference, saying that the Bills have the potential to be a playoff team.

Ryan was asked about the possibility of reuniting with Sanchez in Buffalo after their time together in New York and he said that all free agents on the market would be considered. The team likely will not be able to move up to draft Winston or Marcus Mariota, as they traded a first round pick to get Sammy Watkins last year. The Bills have a top defense, but the offensive side struggled last year and that is what Ryan will need to focus on this offseason.

The team never became an offensive threat despite Marrone being a coach with expertise on offense and now Ryan has some solid young talent like Watkins and Robert Woods to work with. CJ Spiller is a free agent and he likely will be allowed to leave, with Ryan's old team the NY Jets looking like a solid target for him. The Bills could look at making trades for a new starting quarterback, but getting Jay Cutler or someone of that caliber will take a big package.

Ryan and the Bills are more likely to look at the free agent market for a quarterback, as Hoyer and Sanchez could be short term options while Manuel develops. Ryan said that he thinks Manuel can be a starting quarterback in this league, but he clearly needs more time to learn. Ryan takes over the Bills and has a similar situation that he had with the Jets, as he has a strong defense with a struggling offense and a young quarterback that needs more time to develop.
