The Dominican Republic won two medals today in the Track and Field events at the 2012 London Olympics. Felix Sanchez dominated the Men's 400m Hurdles taking home the gold, while Luguelin Santons finished in second place, taking home the silver in the Men's 400m.
Sanchez finished just .28 seconds in front of USA's Michael Tinsley. The Dominican finished the hurdles in 47.63 while Tinsley completed the race in 47.91. Javier Culson of Puerto Rico took the bronze after running a 48.10.
Santos finished about a second behind of Grenada's James Kirani who ran the 400m in 43.94. Santos came in second with a 44.46, while Trinidad and Tobago's Lalonde Gordon ran a 44.52.
In the Women's 3000m Steeplechase Russia's Yuliya Zaripova finished in 9:06.72 to take the gold. Habiba Bhribi of Tunisia took the silver coming in almost seconds behind Zaripova at 9:08.37. She was followed by Ethiopia's Sofia Assefa who came in at 9:09.84.
