Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid are meeting in the Spanish Copa Del Rey Round of 16 on Wednesday and the matchup from Vicente Calderon as Cristiano Ronaldo and company looking to advance and things start up at 3 pm ET and the game will be live online with a stream from beIn Sport and this will be a high profile matchup after the teams faced off last year in the Champions League.
Ronaldo comes in looking to lead his team to a win and he will matchup with Fernando Torres in the first leg match on Wednesday. Torres said that he is motivated to win and he comes in after previously scoring 84 goals in 214 games in his first run with Atletico. Real won this last year along with the Champions League and while they snapped a 22-game streak on Sunday, they are eager to get things going back in the right direction.
The two teams have matchups down the line as well, including on Thursday next week and that will be at Real Madrid before the matchup later in February at Atletico. Fernando Torres will be in the matchup for Atletico and he comes in for the Spanish champs in this matchup after an AC Milan loan and it comes after his departure many years ago for the EPL. Torres comes in after stints with Liverpool and Chelsea and he said that he enjoys the Atletico way and that he is looking forward to the matchup with Real.
The two teams battled last season for the La Liga title and then in the Champions League final and this is another tournament battle for these giants. Real Madrid comes into the match after a loss against Valencia in La Liga play and they are currently in first place on the table standings and will be looking to bounce back. The team won earlier last month in Champions League play to advance to the next round and they continue to defend their title and now have Atletico in the Copa matchup.
Real Madrid has some tough matchups coming on the horizon, as they will play against Atletico again and they also have Real Sociedad in La Liga. The team also will play against Schalke in the next stage of the Champions League in the Round of 16 and they open on the road for that matchup. Atletico comes into the game after a win over Levante and before that they won over Athletic and earlier last month they drew with Juventus in the Champions League.
Coming up the team plays against Real Madrid again and that will be on the La Liga schedule and will be on the road and that always is a tough test. The team also has to travel to face Lionel Messi and Barcelona, which will be a big matchup in the table standings. The team is currently third while Real is in first and this game on Wednesday will give the sides a chance to look at each other before the two matchups later in the season.
