The Cleveland Cavaliers may look at a Dion Waiters trade this season at the deadline along with Tristan Thompson, as they are hoping to add some depth for the playoffs and names like Wesley Matthews, Corey Brewer, Timofey Mozgov, Gerald Green, Jeff Green or David West could be in the mix depending on who is available at the deadline, as LeBron and the Cavs are hoping to get a defensive big man into the mix with Kevin Love.

The Cavaliers are interested in making one addition at the deadline this year and along with Corey Brewer, Wesley Matthews has been a target for the team. Marc Stein writes that Matthews would be a perfect fit for the Cavaliers based on what he does on the court and that he would be a better option off the bench than Dion Waiters and he also could start. According to Pro Basketball Talk, Chris Haynes of Northeast Ohio Media Group reports that the team has been heavily interested in Matthews, but the Portland Trail Blazers have rebuffed the offers for him.

Matthews is set to be a free agent next summer and the Blazers feel that he is a strong part of the roster and plan on bringing him back next yet. Pro Basketball Talk writes that Jeff Green also could be an option, as he is getting shopped by the Boston Celtics. The Cavaliers like Green, but they are unwilling to trade a first round pick for him, which is what the Celtics are asking for in any package.

Earlier in the summer the Cavaliers and Nuggets spoke about a Timofey Mozgov trade, but things did not work out and now they could pick back up on that this winter. Marc Stein at ESPN.com wrote last week that the Cavaliers are looking to add a big man that can serve as a "rim protector" and that they also are interested in some wing depth. The team feels it has one "big" move to make this season and they are weighing whether to add someone up front or on the outside.

Kosta Koufos is another name to watch, as he is a target for the Cavaliers with the Grizzlies. Marc Stein wrote on ESPN.com that the Cavs have looked into Koufos, as he is considered to be an underrated defender and has been stuck in a bench role with Memphis. The team has Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph and that could lead to a deal with the Cavs if they are willing to part with Waiters.

Corey Brewer has been a target for the Cavaliers along with the Houston Rockets and he could end up being moved at the deadline as well. Gerald Green and PJ Tucker have come up as possible options with the Suns, but so far no movement has come on those deals. The Cavs have been playing much better in recent weeks compared to earlier in the season, but James knows there are holes and he is hoping that David Griffin can fill them. Waiters and Thompson are both talented, but to get a solid player, the team will likely have to give up one of those names.
