Dec 14, 2014 03:54 PM EST

The Denver Broncos and San Diego Chargers are playing in Week 15 of the NFL season on CBS and the game is live starting at 4:05 pm ET from Qualcomm Stadium as this AFC West matchup goes down with Peyton Manning and Philip Rivers in the conference and both teams are looking to firm up playoffs position as the calendar is into December.

The Broncos come into the game ahead of the San Diego Chargers in the division standings and they are 10-3 on the season. The Broncos are battling with the Patriots for home field advantage in the AFC and they could use this win to make it happen and Denver comes in with nearly 300 passing yards per game this season. The Broncos will next play on Monday night against the Bengals and they come in after a close win against the Buffalo Bills and they have now won three games in a row.

The Broncos have won four of the last five games and the loss was against the Rams and they now are heading into the end of the season against the Bengals and Raiders after the Chargers. The Broncos are the favorites in the division race again and Peyton Manning is looking to make it back to the Super Bowl after losing to the Seahawks last season. The Broncos are ranked in the top five in passing yards per game and in rushing yards allowed and that could be the major factors in the matchup with the Chargers.

The Chargers come in after a loss against the Patriots and they will next matchup on the road against the 49ers as they try and stay alive in the playoffs race. The team comes in ranked in the top 15 in passing and rushing yards allowed per game and they need a win here to stay alive in the AFC playoff race. The postseason standings in the conference are very tight this season and another loss for the Chargers could put them out of reach depending on how things play out.

The Chargers have won three of the past four games and had won three in a row before losing to the Patriots and now they have the Broncos at home before two on the road against the 49ers and Chiefs. The team needs to get at least two wins here to stay alive and the team is hoping that the Broncos are a bit off after the game last week and the Chargers know that the AFC standings are very tight behind for the team with so many still alive.
