The LA Kings and Montreal Canadiens are playing live on the NHL schedule on Friday night and the matchup from the Bell Centre starts at 7:30 as two of the top teams in the league face off with Los Angeles heading North to Canada to play the Habs in an east-west matchup that was nearly the Stanley Cup finals last season.
The Canadiens come into the game after a win against the Canucks and they will next play against the Carolina Panthers after this matchup with the Kings. The team comes in ranked 22nd in the league in goals per game and in the top half in goals against and penalty kill percentage. The Canadiens have 38 points this season and they are third in the Atlantic division and they are 18-10-2 on the year and looking good once again.
The Kings are currently fifth in the pacific division and they are 15-9-5 on the season with 35 points and of course they are back as Stanley Cup champions. The team is ranked third in the league in goals against and is in the top 10 in penalty kill percentage and they will next play against the Maple Leafs on their Canada tour after playing the Habs. The team last played and won against the Senators and this will be the second of three straight games north of the border.
Drew Doughty is leading the Kings in assists this season and Max Pacioretty has been excellent for the Canadiens, leading the team in goals and points. Montreal had lost three games in a row before winning over the Canucks and the Canadiens remain one of the favorites in the east after making it to the conference finals last season.
