The Washington Wizards are currently dominating on their home court while the Los Angeles Clippers are simply dominating in general. The Wizards are off to an 11-2 start at home after the beat the Boston Celtics on Monday led by Paul Pierce and John Wall. They followed that up with a win over Orlando. However, the Clippers come into the nation's capital on a nine-game win streak and are looking to keep up the pace as they face the Wizards on Friday.
The Friday matchup is a battle of the point guards as Wall and Chris Paul go head-to-head. Wall is currently leading the league with 10.4 assists per game while Paul ranks in at fourth with 10.1. However, Paul is only turning the ball over 1.7 times per game while Wall is struggling at 4.0 per game. However, the Wizards are fresh off a game where they have a season-low 10 turnovers paired with 26 assists.
Both the Clippers and Wizards come in as high-scoring teams. Los Angeles ranks in at third averaging 106.9 points per game while Washington is eighth with 97.2 points per game. The Clippers like to score and score a lot. The team is 15-1 when they score over 100 points as they are fresh off a 103-96 win over the Indiana Pacers. That bodes well for the game against Washington who has allowed 100 points or more nine times this season while losing six of those games.
The game features a reunion between Clippers coach Doc Rivers and Pierce who is in his first season with the Wizards. The veteran is currently averaging a career-low 13.2 points on just 27.2 minutes of playing time.
"Paul's a smart basketball player," Rivers said, via ESPN.com. "It's his knowledge and his competitiveness. He's a tough competitor. He doesn't like losing."
If Washington is going to win they will have to deal with the defensive tandem of Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan. In their last matchup against the Wizards back in January, Griffin scored 29 points while Jordan grabbed 17 rebounds. The clippers got the win even though Paul did not play.
