The Chicago Bulls are hoping that Derrick Rose is able to play after the point guard tweaked his hamstring in a loss to the Denver Nuggets. Rose has been facing plenty of criticism regarding his health and intentions to play with Chicago. The tweaked hamstring only added to the drama and as Joakim Noah and Taj Gibson remain out with injuries as well, the Bulls' roster could be lacking against the Boston Celtics.
Rose left the game against the Nuggets in the first half after playing just 10 minutes after suffering what looked to be a setback with his hamstring. The point guard has told the media that he intends on being patient with his health and not play unless he is totally healthy. After suffering two serious knee injuries and missing the better part of two seasons, no one would blame the point guard for being hesitant. However, as other injuries pile up, the Bulls need Rose on the court.
The Bulls are in the middle of a seven-game road trip, going 2 for 3 as Rose, Noah and Gibson struggle with their health. Jimmy Butler continues to carry the team as he leads the offense. Against the Nuggets, he put up a career high 32 points. Pau Gasol added another 22 points with another 11 rebounds. However, defense was an issue as Noah and Gibson sit out. The Bulls allowed the Nuggets to shoot 50.6 percent in the game. Butler can only do so much with the others out. The shooting guard continues to lead the team averaging 21.6 points per game while shooting 50.0 percent.
The Bulls prepare to take on the Celtics on the road. Boston is struggling right now, losing their last five of six games. Their only win has come to the Philadelphia 76ers who are winless on the season. Boston has dropped four straight games and are hoping to avoid making it five with a win over Chicago. Jeff Green and Jared Sullinger are leading the team and a return of rookie Marcus Smart could help get the win.
