The NY Knicks have been up and down to start the season and Phil Jackson may look at trade deals at the deadline to set up for the future, as names like JR Smith, Amar'e Stoudemire, Jose Calderon and Iman Shumpert could be potential targets for teams and this comes as New york is hoping to sign Marc Gasol or Greg Monroe in free agency in the summer of 2015.

The Knicks have started the season 3-9 and they are hoping to snap out of this funk soon, as they were 3-13 last year and missed the playoffs. Many felt that the team would be inconsistent to start the season with a new offense and head coach coming in, but some of the losses have been very close and tough to deal with. Anthony has played well overall, but he is a bit banged up and right now the team needs to get things going, as they have a tough schedule coming up over the next month.

The Knicks lost a heartbreaking game to the Jazz at the buzzer last week and now they come in after losing a close game to the Bucks on Tuesday night. The Knicks have been mentioned as a team that could be involved at the trade deadline this season, but they likely will not be making major acquisitions, at least not yet. Jackson has pared down the salary cap a bit and names like JR Smith and Amar'e could be options to trade to help clear more space heading into the summer.

The Knicks will target Marc Gasol according to the NY Post and names like Rajon Rondo, Greg Monroe and Zach Randolph also could be potential options as free agents. The Knicks have Iman Shumpert heading towards restricted free agency and there is a chance he could be traded this season as well. The Knicks may make moves down the line for next season, as this one is shaping up to be another rough one for the team.

The Knicks started last season 3-13 and did not make the playoffs and they are on track to do that now. The team is hosting the Sixers on Saturday and that comes after a loss to the Wolves and while that should be a win, 4-10 is not anything to be happy about. The team has lost nine of the last 10 games and they have won once in this month against the Denver Nuggets and now they have some tough games coming up.

The Knicks are ranked 24th in the league in scoring so far this season and they are 20th in defense and they need to shape up on both ends of the court. The team knows that this season is not the big one, as they are planning to spend in free agency this summer. The team may look at Rajon Rondo and Marc Gasol, as those two players could be game changers for Carmelo Anthony. Melo has played well and he knows that this team is tracking upwards even though it looks bad now.
