The Minnesota Timberwolves have Ricky Rubio and the point guard not is dealing with a "significant" ankle injury after rolling his foot last week and reports say that he could be out for over a month and this season it's possible that he will come up in trade rumors and the LA Lakers are a potential option for him after the injury to Steve Nash put Jeremy Lin in the starting lineup.

According to Pro Basketball Talk, Rubio is dealing with a serious ankle injury and Jeff Zillgitt of USA Today reports that the guard could be out for up to two months if it's a higher grade sprain. The Timberwolves have Zach LaVine coming in after being drafted in the first round and he could take over as the starter while Rubio is out.

The Lakers know that next summer is a big one for them and after Kevin Love was traded, they have to shift their targets, since he was the player they coveted the most. The team likely now will go after Rondo or Monroe, while Ricky Rubio and Marc Gasol are also likely targets. The Lakers will need star power back after Kobe is done and they have been on the mat now for a couple years compared to their fellow Staples Center tenants the Clippers, which obviously is a huge historical reversal.

The Knicks also could be interested in Rubio. The Lakers likely also will go after him, while both teams are also interested in Rajon Rondo.  The Knicks will have options for Carmelo Anthony and if they strike out again in free agency, Jackson may look at making some trade deals instead. Of course there is always Kevin Durant in the future, but come on, that's not happening for the Knicks, even with Derek Fisher as head coach.

The New York Post and Pro Basketball Talk have both reported already that the Knicks will go after Marc Gasol and if they only get one player, he likely will be the one. Rondo will be a target no matter how this season goes, as he is a premier point guard and could be a huge addition for the team. Over the past two seasons the Knicks have been mentioned in trade rumors with Rondo, but so have a number of other teams. Rondo will be the top player on the market and he could be demanding quite a bit of money, especially if the Lakers, Knicks and other teams go after him.
