The curious case of Jameis Winston continues. The Florida State Seminoles quarterback is doing a solid job of following up his Heisman Trophy season with another year of contending as college football's best player. However, off-the-field issues have marred his NFL potential as the quarterback is expected to enter the NFL Draft in 2015. Currently competing with others as the potential best rookie, are the New York Jets hoping to be the frontrunners for Winston?

Winston might have gotten credited for several interceptions in the game against the Louisville Cardinals, but leading a comeback win certainly helped overshadow that. He picked the right game to lead a comeback as ESPN's Adam Schefter reported several NFL scouts were present for the game in hopes of getting a look at what Winston's NFL potential could be.

Expected to be the first quarterback taken off the board, is Winston destined to be taken by the New York Jets? In the latest NFL mock drafts of CBSSports.com, Winston is the next in line to try his hand at being the Jets' starting quarterback. Currently sitting with one win on the season, things are grim at the moment in New York which means a high draft pick is very likely. With the way things are going for the team at the moment, a quarterback is their best option at trying to regain some success.

The Jets cannot get consistency at the quarterback position. Geno Smith was taken in the second round back in 2013. He earned the starting nod over Mark Sanchez and was expected to be the face of the franchise. However, Smith has not gotten past the rookie hurdles that plagued him last season and is showing zero signs of progress. He was recently benched in favor of Michael Vick, a move that is permanent for the time being. Vick is not a long-term option for the Jets and Smith is looking less and less like one as well. So what does New York do?

There are certainly those advocating the Jets do not take Winston. It is no secret the quarterback has some baggage that comes along with him which could instantly be viewed as a distraction. The Jets are expected to undergo plenty of changes in the offseason including their head coach and general manager, could bringing on Winston be too much at once?
