Buster Posey #28 and Madison Bumgarner #40 of the San Francisco Giants celebrate after defeating the Kansas City Royals to win Game Seven of the 2014 World Series by a score of 3-2 at Kauffman Stadium on October 29, 2014 in Kansas City, Missouri."

The San Francisco Giants won over the Kansas City Royals for the World Series in 2014 after five innings from Madison Bumgarner and that was his third win of the series and now SF has won 4-3 and this is their third championship in five seasons after winning Game 7.

Madison Bumgarner came out to pitch the ninth inning and he faced off against the Royals top hitters in Eric Hosmer, Alex Gordon and Billy Butler to set up quite the dramatic frame. The MVP award went to Bumgarner because, obviously. He pitched five innings of relief and got his third win of the Series. Heading into the ninth inning of the game the Giants were up 3-2 and that run came against Kelvin Herrera with a Mike Morse single to right field that scored Pablo Sandoval. The hit came on an 0-2 count and Herrera had only given up five hits on those counts all season. Joe Panik had an amazing play to pull a double play with a glove flip to Brandon Crawford and he was able to get the second out with help from a replay review.

The Giants had Tim Hudson start the game against Jeremy Guthrie and both starters eventually were pulled early and it became the battle of the bullpens. The Giants had Jeremy Affeldt in the game and the Royals brought in Herrera before San Fran went to Madison Bumgarner. The Royals went to Wade Davis and Greg Holland late and it went into the ninth inning with a 3-2 lead for the Giants and the Royals had the four, five and six hitters coming up in the final frame.

At one point Bumgarner retired 11 straight and he continued his dominance in the World Series, as he came into the game at 2-0 with an 0.29 ERA for this game. Amazingly, he gave up a hit to the first guy he faced and he became the third pitcher since early 20th century to have two wins as a starter in the World Series and pitch three innings of relief in the same series. Bumgarner had already made history with his starts and he basically gave himself the MVP before that if the Giants had pulled it out.

Bumgarner came into the game early from the bullpen and was fantastic to start, holding back the Royals for a number of innings after relieving Jeremy Affeldt. The Giants scored first with two runs in the second inning and that came on a Michael Morse sacrifice with the bases loaded and a Brandon Crawford sacrifice after that. The Royals scored two runs in the bottom of the inning after an Alex Gordon double brought Billy Butler in and then Omar Infante brought Gordon around.
