Washington Redskins Rumors: Pierre Garcon Trade Option With Santana Moss For Seahawks, 49ers, Patriots As RG3 Returns?

Oct 28, 2014 12:39 PM EDT

The Washington Redskins won on Monday against the Cowboys, but the team has been terrible this season overall and that could lead to a trade at the Tuesday deadline, as CBS Sports writes that Pierre Garcon could be a target for teams, including the Seattle Seahawks, San Francisco 49ers, Kansas City Chiefs, New England Patriots and New York Giants.

The Redskins love what Garcon brings to the table, but with DeSean Jackson coming in and adjusting well, the team has a chance to make a move that could net some draft picks. Garcon has a decent contract, but Jackson is getting paid quite a bit and the Redskins already know that players like Jordan Reed and Alfred Morris will need to get paid in the coming years as well. Jason La Canfora at CBS writes that the Redskins may consider making a move to get draft picks back, as they gave up a ton in the RG3 deal.

Garcon had a fantastic season last year and had 113 catches and now he is way off that pace and could be an attractive target for teams. The Giants, Bengals, Seahawks, Niners and Patriots have all had issues at WR with injuries or other situations and could be potential options. Garcon could also be an option for the Browns, but they have Josh Gordon coming back and likely will wait until he returns over making a big move like a trade for Garcon or Vincent Jackson.

Garcon had a huge season last year with 113 catches for 1346 yards and five touchdowns and this season he is nowhere near that pace. The loss of Robert Griffin to injury and of Kirk Cousins to being terrible has hurt and now that Colt McCoy is in, Garcon could see his numbers dip a bit more. McCoy was solid on Monday night and RG3 is on his way back, so things could be looking up if no trade goes down. There are a number of teams that could use a veteran WR and that could lead to a trade for some picks.

Garcon has 39 catches on the season for 443 yards and he is currently on a five year deal worth over $40 million that he signed back in 2012. Garcon is set to make $7.1 million for this season and next season and it goes up slightly the season after that. CBS Sports writer Jason La Canfora writes that the Redskins were depleted badly by the RG3 trade and they desperately need to stock back up on picks. Having DeSean Jackson makes losing Garcon easier and the team also could look at trading Santana Moss in a deal, as he has only had a handful of snaps this season.

The Redskins won on Monday night against the Cowboys, but they have not been good this season and while 3-5 isn't dead, they aren't exactly in it either. The team will be getting RG3 back so they may not want to sell players, but even if Garcon is not moved, Moss easily could be. Many teams need some veteran WR help, but it's likely that teams will not give up any high picks for him and it would be a sixth or seventh rounder for the longtime vet.
