The NY Jets made a trade for Percy Harvin on Friday from the Seattle Seahawks, acquiring the wide receiver for a conditional draft pick and the stunning deal went down after New York lost on Thursday against the Patriots and it comes as the Hawks have numerous free agent deals coming next year, including for Russell Wilson.
According to ESPN.com and Fox Sports, Harvin was traded to the Jets for a conditional pick and possibly two, as John Clayton reports that it will be a second and fourth round pick. Harvin has had some issues with the Seahawks according to Clayton, as he is a bit of a diva and wants the ball and he has not been pleased with Russell Wilson. Harvin is a playmaker and an explosive option in the offense and now he joins the Jets, who have been one of the worst teams in the league.
The Seahawks drafted Paul Richardson and Kevin Norwood and now those names will be players to step up for the Seahawks. The Jets have cap space and now Eric Decker has a player to line up opposite him and he could be the new favorite target for Geno Smith. This season Harvin has 22 catches and Adam Schefter thinks it says a lot about a player that two teams have traded him in a year.
The Seahawks traded three picks, including a first round pick for Harvin originally and while the Hawks may have gotten fleeced in that regard, the team won the Super Bowl last season, so they are fine. The Seahawks will suffer offensively from this, but the team won the championship last season with Harvin barely playing at all and now they take on his massive contract.
