The St. Louis Cardinals and San Francisco Giants are playing on the NLCS schedule on Thursday and the Game 5 matchup comes with SF up 3-1 in the series and the matchup starts past 8:07 pm ET on FOX Sports 1 and streaming from Fox Sports Go as Madison Bumgarner and Adam Wainwright matchup on the mound in the National League Championship series to see who will play the Royals.
The Giants now have the chance to win the series and they are up 3-1 after winning the last game, but they will not take the Cardinals lightly. The team came back against the Cardinals two years ago down 3-1 in the series and ended up winning and now the pitching matchup is back to the aces. Bumgarner has been fantastic this entire season and now he can put his team into the World Series, where the Royals are already waiting.
Adam Wainwright is on the mound for the Cardinals and he has been dealing with some elbow issues and he will try and gut things out on Thursday. The game on Wednesday was back and forth and after going down late, the Giants were able to tie things up and then take the lead from the Cardinals. The Giants seemingly have been pushing all the right buttons and now they have their best pitcher on the mound in a game they can win to clinch the pennant for the third time in five years. The Cards and Giants have been the NL reps for that span and now they will get the chance to do it again.
The Giants find ways to win games and the cardinals now have no real margin for error now that San Fran has a 3-1 lead. The team has not hit a home run in 242 at bats, but they are getting it done with scratching things out with wild pitches, smart hitting and a bit of luck.
