The San Francisco 49ers have been making headlines for everything but football in the past week. There has been rising doubt that Jim Harbaugh is fully committed to the team as his contract is set to expire at the end of the season. Some have reported that Harbaugh has his eyes on returning to college as several marquee jobs could be opening up at the end of the year. Everyone from Harbaugh to team CEO Jed York have denied the idea that the head coach is not returning for next season no matter what. Now the 49ers must return their focus to field as they face the St. Louis Rams on Monday Night Football.

The 49ers enter the game with a refreshed rushing attack as veteran Frank Gore found his legs over the past two games. Gore has the 49ers ranked third in the league in rushing after putting up 226 yards in the past two games. That could only increase against the Rams. Last year, Gore put up 153 yards and a touchdown against St. Louis. Not to mention the Rams defense struggles against the run as they give up an average of 152.5 yards per game.

The 49ers are also relying heavily on the defense in games. The team is looking to get their third straight win as the defense continues to pull its weight. The unit has forced six turnovers during that win streak while also holding opponents to just 73.8 rushing yards per game. That should help as they face Zac Stacy who is struggling this season. He has not put up more than 71 yards in a game this season after a standout rookie campaign. He suffered a calf injury in the team's last game, but appears to be fine to play.

The Rams gave up a 21-point lead to the Dallas Cowboys after doing the same to the Philadelphia Eagles. St. Louis is hoping Austin Davis can keep his hot streak together after he finished with 274 yards and three touchdowns against Philadelphia.
