The NY Knicks are coming into the season with a new offense and head coach and Carmelo Anthony is expecting the triangle to be a success with Derek Fisher leading the way and Phil Jackson still has moves that he could make later in the season, including at the trade deadline with players like Iman Shumpert, Amar'e Stoudemire, Pablo Prigioni and JR Smith, while names like Rajon Rondo and Greg Monroe could be potential free agent targets.

The Knicks started off the preseason with a loss, but Derek Fisher said that the team is not concerned and that the offense is still getting set heading into the regular season. According to Pro Basketball Talk, Anthony said that he likes the triangle offense and that he is excited to get the season started with Fisher after the way the team ended last year. The Knicks missed the playoffs last season and won just 37 games and the team got off to a horrible start, winning only three of their first 16 games last year.

The Knicks have made a number of moves already to help improve the roster and they now have an upgrade at point guard from last season with the addition of Jose Calderon. According to ESPN.com, the Knicks and Iman Shumpert have not yet talked about a contract extension and that could lead to a trade at some point this season. The team is willing to let him his restricted free agency, as they want to keep the salary cap clear for free agents next summer.

The Knicks may look at moving Shumpert is the right deal comes along, but the team likes his potential and while he has not developed in quite the way they have wanted, he still remains an asset. The team may end up seeing what they wanted from Shumpert this year and then sign him once he hits the market, but either way, the Knicks are spending next summer. Greg Monroe will be on the market and he could be a target, while Marc Gasol reportedly will be the guy that Phil Jackson goes after.

The Knicks come in after missing the playoffs last season and now Jackson has the team working a new offense with a new head coach. The trades he has made already have helped add talent to the roster and while Tyson Chandler was a fan favorite, he was past his prime and that was why Jackson dealt him. The team brought in Jose Calderon and he is a much better option over Raymond Felton and now the offense has a very solid point guard at the helm.
