J.J. Watt #99 of the Houston Texans celebrates an Indianapolis Colts fumble after he returned it for a touchdown in the fourth quarter in a NFL game on October 9, 2014 at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas. "

The Houston Texans lost a tough game against the Colts on Thursday night football, but one thing that was clear was that JJ Watt is a legitimate MVP candidate through six weeks of the season after scoring another touchdown and bothering Andrew Luck and the Indy defense all night, as he now has three touchdowns on the season and has been very impressive overall.

Watt scored a touchdown on a fumble recovery against the Colts with a 45-yard run and his speed was evident on the play, as he was able to outrun the entire Colts offense. Watt now has three scores on the season and as ESPN.com pointed out, that's more than LeSean McCoy, Doug Martin, Victor Cruz, Julio Jones and Vernon Davis. Watt had previously scored on an interception return for a TD and he also added a reception in a goal line situation.

Watt scored this TD after a botched snap to Luck, who Watt also sacked twice during the game and harassed all night. Watt nearly had another pick six but dropped the ball when Luck tried to flare it out to Ahmad Bradshaw and he once again was up front, knocking down three passes in the game. Watt had another big swat at the end of the game on a third and six for the Colts as they were trying to close out the game and that forced the team to punt and that gave the Houston Texans another chance to take the lead. The team didn't end up coming back, but Watt put them in position to do it.

The Texans now are 3-3 on the season and the Colts now take sole possession of first place in the division and they are 3-0 in AFC South games already this season. Watt has 26 tackles on the season with four sacks and six passes defended and he also has an interception. Watt has been fantastic and this game featured two MVP candidates, as Andrew Luck is making his claim as the best player in football this season with another three TDs and a 300-yard game.

Watt was signed to a six year extension this season for $100 million and he said that he wants to play up to the contract and so far he is doing just that. Watt has 40 sacks in his career and he was the 2012 defensive player of the year and now he is making a claim for being MVP through five weeks of the season. That will be very hard to sustain for any defensive player, but right now he is playing as good as anyone in the league.

Watt now has three touchdowns on the season and that's more than players like Julio Jones and Victor Cruz. Get this man some fantasy points.
