Oct 08, 2014 06:52 PM EDT

The New Orleans Pelicans and Washington Wizards are playing on the NBA preseason schedule on Wednesday night and the game is live from NBA.com at 7 pm ET from Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville as these two young teams matchup with some of the top bright stars in the league, including Anthony Davis and John Wall for the exhibition game.

The Wizards come into the season after their best year in years and now they have John Wall and Bradley Beal developing into stars and they will be a factor in the east. While the team is in no way a title contender, the team should make it into the playoffs with ease and after winning a series last season against the Bulls, Wall and company will be looking for more. Wall has turned into one of the best young guards in the league and the team now has Paul Pierce in the mix to add a veteran presence after he signed from the Nets in free agency.

The Pelicans come into the game with a ton of young talent as well and they have Anthony Davis coming in after his amazing summer and he was one of the best players in the FIBA World Cup. Davis is a superstar in the making and while the Pelicans were not good last season, they have talent with Jrue Holiday and Tyreke Evans and the team also pulled off a trade for Omer Asik with the Rockets. Asik was one of the best rebounders two years ago and he was basically benched last season in Houston and now he will have the chance to play meaningful minutes again.

Davis is a force and he can do everything and the Pelicans really have the chance to be good in a year or two. The team can compete for a playoff spot this season with Davis and they also have Austin Rivers and other young talent that will continue to develop. The team was in the middle of the pack in the rankings in scoring, rebounding, assists and points allowed per game and now they have the chance to improve on things. The team has the Rockets next on the schedule and that comes after the team lost to the Atlanta Hawks in their last preseason game.

The Wizards come into the game after winning over the Chicago Bulls in their last preseason game and they next will play against the Hornets. The team comes into the game with John Wall ready to take over and the Wiz feel that they can make a run in the division now that LeBron is gone from Miami. The team ranked ninth in the league in points allowed last season and they feel Gortat and everyone up front can keep that going.
