Green Bay Packers Rumors: Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb, Eddie Lacy Best Week 5 Fantasy Football Start Options For Aaron Rodgers

Oct 02, 2014 03:44 PM EDT

The Green Bay Packers are playing on Thursday against the Vikings for Week 5 of the NFL season and fantasy football owners should look to start Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb and Eddie Lacy in the matchup, as Arron Rodgers and the offense are looking strong after their win against the Packers and they could get things off to a strong start for fantasy owners.

The Packers had a great game against the Bears and they pulled away in the second half after some strong play from Rodgers and now he will be looking to carve up the Vikings. Randall Cobb had his best game of the season and Eddie Lacy comes in looking for a breakout game and he could have it on Thursday night. Jordy Nelson has been the most consistent target for Rodgers and he likely will get a ton of looks in the Week 5 matchup.

Rodgers was on fire against the Bears while going 22-of-28 for 302 yards with four touchdowns and no picks and now Nelson and Cobb could be ready for big games again. The Vikings have a decent secondary, but when Rodgers is locked in he really can get going and that is how the Packers are playing. The game is at Lambeau and that makes it even better for the Packers and it could signal the time is right for an Eddie Lacy breakout game. Lacy has been slow to get going this season, but if Rodgers can play like he did last week, the team should be able to run the ball.

Lacy had a great rookie year with 11 TDs and over 1100 yards rushing, but so far he has been averaging 40 yards per game this season. Lacy has just 161 yards in four games and seven catches for 49 yards. He is about in line with his receiving from last season with 35 catches for 257 yards, but it's the rushing that has fantasy owners worried. Lacy has the chance to breakout against the Vikings and fantasy owners are hoping that happens on Thursday. Lacy has one TD this season, but he got that last week and he beat his average with 48 yards on the ground.

Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb have been solid to start the season and Nelson is coming in after his best game of the year after going for 10 catches last week. Nelson had two of Rodgers' four TDs on Sunday and he also had over 100 yards and now they face off against a team with a young secondary. Cobb and Nelson are huge weapons and Nelson comes in with staggering numbers at 33 catches for 459 yards and three scores and he already has two 100 yard games. Last season he had 85 catches and right now he is on pace for over 130.

Cobb comes in after having his best game of the season while catching seven passes for 113 yards with two touchdowns and now he has 21 catches for over 230 yards this season. Cobb was injured last year and he is looking to pick up where he left off two years ago when he had 80 catches for nearly 1000 yards and eight scores in 2012. Cobb and Nelson are players to watch on Thursday.
