The San Francisco Giants and Cardinals are playing the NL Championship Series game and the live stream on the radio is from ESPN Radio online and the matchup has two of the in the National League as the playoffs go down.

The Pirates come into the game after putting up 88 wins on the season and they made it into the playoffs despite a slow start to the season. The team was right in the mix in the NL Central for a while before the Cardinals took it over and now they are playing for the chance to matchup with the Washington Nationals, who were the best team in the NL this season. The Pirates ended the season with a loss to the Reds and to Johnny Cueto and that was the pitcher and the team that they beat last season.

The Pirates made it into the wild card game last season as well and the fans at PNC took down Cueto and now they have a tough test with Madison Bumgarner, who has experience and does not fold under pressure. The team is putting out their best pitcher from this season in Volquez, as he comes in after leading the team in ERA and also in wins and it comes after Francisco Liriano pitched the game last season.

The Pirates were one of the best offensive teams in the league this past season and they will need that again and they come in after ranking in the top 10 in batting average and in runs. Buster Posey led the Giants in homers, RBI and batting average this season and he is one player that the Pirates may try and workaround in this game. The matchup between these two teams has the potential to be great and the Giants have tons of experience to lean on, while the Pirates are back after snapping their two decade streak of futility last year.

Bumgarner comes in pitching well and the bullpen behind him has been fantastic this season too. The bullpen ranks in the top five behind Bumgarner this season, including in ERA, batting average allowed and opponents OPS. Bumgarner comes into the game with a 3-2 career record and a 3.79 ERA in the postseason and he has been lights out in the World Series tossing 15 scoreless innings. The game may come down to whether Volquez or Bumgarner can go deep into the game and shut down the lineups.
