The MLB playoffs are now in full swing and the Kansas City Royals are through after winning the wild card game 9-8 in the AL and now they will face the LA Angels in the American League division series after taking down the Oakland Athletics in a crazy 12-inning game that saw Ned Yost almost blow it by making a terrible pitching change in the sixth inning.

The game at Kauffman Stadium was as wild as could be, as the Royals looked like they were against the ropes and done before making a furious comeback. The Royals were shut down by Jon Lester for most of the game, but the team got to him eventually in the eighth inning and they added three runs before tying it up in the bottom of the ninth. The Athletics struck back in the 12th and took the lead, but the Royals rallied again and Salvador Perez came through with the clutch hit to win the game.

The Royals won so many people will let this fall by the wayside, but manager Ned Yost nearly lost his team the game with his decision making in the sixth inning. Yost took out James Shields with two men on when Brandon Moss came up, as he hit a home run earlier in the first inning, putting in rookie Yordano Ventura to face him. After two balls, Ventura tossed a fastball and Moss connected for his second home run of the game to give the A's a 7-3 lead.

Lester looked locked in after that and things looked dire for the Royals, but they pushed back and got three in the eighth before tying the game in the ninth. The game was exciting and they won 9-8 after a hit from Salvador Perez in the 12th inning and now they are facing off against the Angels. Moss had only his fourth home run since Yoenis Cespedes got traded and now the Athletics will have to look back and wonder how it all went so bad this season.
