At the beginning of the college football season, the SEC East was assumed to come do to either South Carolina or Georgia. Through two weeks of play, Georgia looks every bit the part of the East champion while the Gamecocks are struggling to keep their heads above water. Both of the team's season openers went drastically different as Georgia blew away Clemson and South Carolina got crushed by Texas A&M. The Bulldogs are coming off a bye week while South Carolina re-grouped in Week 2 and now they face off in Columbia.

Georgia is trying to avoid a third-straight road loss to South Carolina, but impressed enough in their season opener to make many believe it is possible. The team blew away Clemson after running back Todd Gurley rushed for a career-high 198 yards and four touchdowns. Stop him and Georiga does not look as impressive. The Bulldogs have traditionally struggled against South Carolina. The Bulldogs have only scored more than 18 points in one of their last nine games on the road to the Gamecocks.

The Bulldogs' schedule is tough. They opened with two Top 25 teams for the third time in four seasons. Their best chance at changing their fate against South Carolina is Gurley who put up 132 yards and two touchdowns against the team last year. He has already been listed as an early Heisman favorite after just one game. However, remove Gurley from the game and South Carolina still might not stop Georgia as their defense gave up 832 yards in the air through the first two games.

The Gamecocks tried to improve after their loss to Texas A&M, but continued to struggle against East Carolina, edging the team 33-23. They trailed by six points in the second quarter. They managed to get the lead in the in the second half, barely hanging on. The Gamecocks have their own running back that can make some noise. Mike Davis had 149 yards and a touchdown against George last year, but has only put up 116 in two games this season.
